The Consulate General of India, Munich was opened in May, 2002 with operational jurisdiction over the two southern German States of Bavaria and Baden Württemberg. The Consulate provides consular, Trade & commercial, and other services including community welfare to the residents of Bavaria and Baden Württemberg.

To facilitate applicants seeking consular services, the public hours for Consular Wing are kept open from 0930 hrs to 1230 hrs on all working days. There is no requirement of any prior appointment. For Emergencies, the contact number is also given in the Website. Further, every 2nd and 4th Wednesdays are designated, as ‘Open Day’ for discussing problems of Indian Diaspora and one is free to meet the Consular Officer. The Consulate is also assisting members of India community, in deserving cases, as per provisions of ICWF (Indian Welfare Community Fund). The consular services are as mentioned below:

Passport Services: Providing services to resident Indians in its consular jurisdiction for:

  • Issue of a new passport
  • Re-issue of passports
  • New passports in lieu of loss/ damage cases (applicant to visit the Consulate for physical verification).
  • Change of personal particulars on the passport
  • Change of appearance (applicant to visit the Consulate for physical verification).
  • Cancellation of passports
  • Emergency Certificates

Other Consular Services

  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) 
  • Marriage Certificate 
  • Birth Certificate
  • Attestation of Death Certificate
  • NRO certificate
  • Attestation of Driving License 
  • Attestation of Affidavit for obtaining child passport in India (father/mother to visit the Consulate for physical verification).
  • Attestation of Power of Attorney/ legal documents (applicant to visit the Consulate to sign it in the presence of the consular officer).

Note: The Consulate has been issuing over 1600 Passports per year.The Passport Booklet is printed in India and hence it usually takes a minimum time of 6-8 weeks to receive the new passport booklet.

Overseas Citizen of India card (OCI) : OCI Card

The Consulate provides to the eligible applicants in its jurisdiction (a) Overseas Citizen of India card (OCI) and (b) OCI Miscellaneous Services as well as renunciation of Indian Citizenship. The Consulate has been issuing over 700 OCI services per year.The OCI card is printed in India and hence it usually takes a minimum time of 6-8 weeks to receive the new OCI card.

Miscellaneous Services: Consulate attests documents such as Power of AttorneyAttestation of Civil and Commercial documentsSworn Affidavit for issue of child’s passport and other documentsAttestation of NORI documents etc. Consulate also issues certificates such as birth/ death/address change/name change etc, Life CertificatePolice Clearance Certificate etc. Death Related Services (same day service) Registration of Death/Issue of Death Certificate and Issue of No Objection Certificate for transportation body of the deceased to India; Carrying of ashes of the deceased to India.

Note: Applications for Passport services and Other Consular Services will be received at the Consulate General of India, Munich office on all working days fromMonday to Friday except public holidays from 0930 hrs to 1230 hrs.

Visa Services

All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Consulate/Embassy. The Indian visa is issued under Government of India’s Foreigners Act. All Individual visa seekers are requested to apply for the Indian Visa through online application and hand written visa application forms are not accepted for issuance of visa. 

Visa applicants are required to complete all fields in the online visa application form correctly and accurately. Incorrect/ incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. After completing and submitting successfully the online visa application form, the printout of the form along with prescribed support documents and fees is to be submitted at the International Visa Service which has been appointed as the outsourcing service delivery partner for receiving of visa applications and delivery of visas to applicants. Public dealing hours for passports, OCI and other consular documents is Monday till Friday from 09:30 - 12:30 hours
